L'AgustaWestland ha inaugurato l'ampliamento dell'infrastruttura industriale di Filadelfia (Pennsylvania), dove la sussidiaria americana Agusta Aerospace Corporation assembla gli A 119 Koala destinati al mercato del Nuovo Continente.
Nel corso della cerimonia, il costrutture ha presentato il primo esemplare dell'elicottero US 101, dotato di motori General Electric e cruscotto con nuovi display. L'US 101, realizzato in collaborazione con la Lockheed Martin e la Bell Helicopter, è uno dei due finalisti nel concorso per la sostituzione degli elicotteri "Marine One" usati dal Presidente degli Stati Uniti per i propri spostamenti. L'ampliamento del sito di Filadelfia, che ha comportato un investimento da 6,8 milioni di dollari, comprende una nuova superficie coperta di oltre 3.700 metri quadri, con hangar per la linea di volo, officina per l'assemblaggio finale, aree per costruzione di parti e montaggio equipaggiamenti. I nuovi locali andranno di pari passo con il raddoppio degli addetti.

AgustaWestland today opened the expansion to its manufacturing facility where its Philadelphia-based U.S. subsidiary Agusta Aerospace Corporation builds the A 119 Koala helicopter used by civilian and law enforcement customers throughout the Americas.
At the event, the manufacturer also unveiled the first US 101 helicopter equipped with General Electric engines and enhanced cockpit display systems. The US 101 is built in partnership with Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter and is one of two finalists in the competition to replace the current "Marine One" fleet of aircraft used by the President of the United States. The $6.8 million expansion of the Philadelphia facility provides a state-of-the-art, 40,000-square-foot workspace that includes flight hangars, completion and final assembly areas, manufacturing stations and avionics assembly. The expansion will allow AgustaWestland to boost employment at the plant by 50 percent.
