Lancair International, Inc. ha annunciato il primo volo del turboelica Evolution, l’aggiunta più recente alla sua gamma di aerei in kit ad alte prestazioni. Il pilota collaudatore “indipendente” Len Fox, che condurrà il programma iniziale di volo, ha espresso valutazioni molto positive su questo primo volo.
L’Evolution, destinato ad essere commercializato in “scatola di montaggio”, è il risultato di tre anni e mezzo di ricerca e sviluppo da parte del costruttore, per realizzare un aereo più spazioso ed in grado di soddisfare tutti i requisiti, in termini di caratteristiche di volo, dettati dalla FAA Part 23, compresa una velocità di stallo di 61 nodi, pur conservando le straordinarie prestazioni tipiche degli aerei Lancair.
Com’è oggi in voga, l’Evolution è dotato di tutti gli ultimi ritrovati in fatto di sicurezza, come il paracadute BRS, sedili ad assorbimento di energia e cinture airbag della AmSafe Aviation, opzionali per i piloti che desiderano il massimo in questo campo.
L’Evolution è dotato della poderosa turbina Pratt & Whitney PT6A-135A che, accoppiata ad un elica quadripala Hartzell, consente velocità superiori ai 335 nodi (620 km/h). Il consumo si aggira su “appena” 147 litri di Jet A all’ora.
All’attuale livello prototipico, il nuovo aereo pesa 966 kg a vuoto, che dovrebbero salire a 1.043 con la verniciatura esterna e l’allestimento di cabina. L’Evolution può imbarcare 146 galloni (oltre 550 litri) di Jet A e, col pieno, dovrebbe avere un carico utile superiore ai 450 kg. L’Evolution sarà in vendita con strumentazioni digitali Chelton SV Pro 6 oppure Garmin G-900X EFIS.

Lancair International, Inc. is pleased to announce the latest addition to its line of high performance aircraft kits the Evolution turboprop, has achieved first flight. Independent test pilot Len Fox, who’s conducting initial flight evaluations called it “a successful first flight.”
The Evolution aircraft kit is the result of 3.5 years of engineering, research and development at Lancair to produce a more spacious aircraft that will meet all flight handling characteristics required by FAA Part 23, including a 61 knot stall speed, while maintaining the Lancair tradition of extraordinary high performance.
In addition, the Evolution provides a new level of safety to the experimental kit market by providing the BRS parachute system, Energy absorbing seats, and the AmSafe Aviation airbag seat belts for those customers who demand the latest in occupant safety!
The Evolution is powered by the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-135A, which produces true airspeeds in excess of 335 knots (385 mph), when coupled to the Hartzell four blade propeller, while consuming only 39 gallons of Jet A per hour.
The new aircraft has a current empty prototype weight of 2,130 pounds, and an estimated completed flying weight of 2,300 pounds with paint and interior. The Evolution aircraft can carry 146 gallons of Jet A, and still have a 1,000 pound payload after full fuel. The Evolution is available with either a Chelton SV Pro 6 or Garmin G-900X EFIS equipped instrument panel as provided by Lancair Avionics.
