Il nuovo aereo passeggeri Embraer 195 ha effettuato oggi il primo volo presso gli stabilimenti della ditta a São José dos Campos, svolgendo anche con successo una serie di prove di manovrabilità e di validazione dei sistemi. L'aereo è decollato alle 11.58 (ora locale) ed è atterrato senza problemi dopo 1 ora e 56 minuti. L'ERJ-195 proseguirà il ciclo dei collaudi in volo presso il centro di Gavião Peixoto, nello stato di São Paulo, dove si stanno già svolgendo le fasi di certificazione degli altri membri della famiglia Embraer 170/190.
"Il primo volo dell'Erj-195 è andato bene. Svolgendo i vari test previsti, siamo stati colpiti dalla somiglianza delle caratteristiche di volo dell'aereo rispetto a quelle degli altri modelli della nostra nuova famiglia di bireattori," ha dichiarato il Capo Pilota Collaudatore Glen Peach. L'equipaggio comprendeva anche il pilota collaudatore Ricardo Noce ed il tecnico prove volo André Celere.
L'ERJ-195, con i suoi 108 posti, è l'aeroplano più grande realizzato finora dal costruttore brasiliano. Spinto da due turbofan General Electric CF34-10E, questo velivolo può essere configurato con cabina ad una o due classi. Con un carico utile massimo di 13.530 kg, esso rappresenta un'ottima combinazione tra prestazioni e costi.
La certificazione dell'ERJ-195 è attesa per il secondo trimestre del 2006. La Swiss ne ha comperati 15 più 10 opzioni, mentre la GECAS (General Electric Capital Aviation Services) ha altre 10 opzioni. L'ERJ-195 è il quarto ed il più capiente dei nuovi jet regionali brasiliani, con capacità che vanno dai 70 ai 110 posti. Al 30 settembre 2004, i quattro modelli della famiglia Embraer 170/190 hanno raccolto 325 ordini fermi e 383 opzioni.

The Embraer 195 commercial airliner made its first flight at Embraer's São José dos Campos headquarters today and successfully performed a range of flying quality and system validation tests. The airplane took off at 11:58 am (local time) and landed safely 1 hour and 56 minutes later. The ERJ-195 will continue its flight tests at the Gavião Peixoto facility, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, where the certification campaign of the other members of the Embraer 170/190 family is also taking place.
"The first flight of the ERJ-195 went well. With all validation tests concluded successfully, we were truly impressed with the common flight characteristics of the aircraft when compared to the other members of our new jet family," said Flight Test Pilot-in-Command Glen Peach. The flight crew included Flight Test Pilot Ricardo Noce and Flight Test Engineer André Celere.
The 108-seat ERJ-195 is the largest aircraft ever built by the Brazilian manufacturer. Powered by two General Electric CF34-10E engines, this airplane can be configured for single class or dual class seating. With maximum payload of 29,829 pounds (13,530 kilos), it provides the best balance between performance and economics.
Certification of the ERJ-195 is expected in the second quarter of 2006. Swiss has 15 aircraft on firm order and 10 options. General Electric Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) has taken options on 10 aircraft of the model. The ERJ-195 is the fourth and largest of a four-member family of commercial jets specifically designed for the 70- to 110-seat market. As of September 30, 2004, the Embraer 170/190 family had logged 325 firm orders and 383 options.
