The Sentinel-1C Satellite was flown to Kourou in a Gigantic Antonov An-124

On October 6, 2024 the Antonov An-124-100M Ruslan UR-82027 landed at Caselle Airport. The next day the aircraft, operated by the Ucrainian Antonov Airlines, took-off to transport the Sentinel-1C satellite assembled in Turin by Thales Alenia Space under contract with European Space Agency to the Kourou space centre in French Guyana. The third Sentinel is a part of the Copernicus Earth multi-spectrum observation programme. On December 5th, 2024 the satellite was successfully launched into orbit by an Avio Vega C rocket.
The Antonov AN-124 (c/n 19530502288/02-08 built in 1990) carries "BE BRAVE LIKE KHaRKIV" special inscription on both sides and from 2022, along with the other aircraft of the Antonov Airlines and the Antonov Design Bureau, is operating from outside the Ukraine. In 1988 a single example of a six-engined An-225 Mriya was developed from the AN-124. At the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine the Russian Air Force bombed the Antonov plant and unfortunately the Mriya was destroyed.
