Alenia Aeronautica Seniors Day 2010

On October 23, 2010, the Alenia Aeronautica Seniors Group organized two prize-givings for personnel with 20, 25 and 30 years of service with the company. 20 “Maestri del lavoro” (Work Masters) with 35+ years also took part in the events, which date back to 1976. It was also announced that Alenia Aermacchi is close to being integrated into Alenia Aeronautica, following up Aeronavali (OAN) and Alenia Composite which were absorbed in 2009.
In the morning, the Pomigliano d'Arco (Naples) plant hosted the prize-giving ceremony for those new seniors belonging to the Capodichino, Casoria, Foggia, Grottaglie, Nola, Rome and Pomigliano factories. Then, thanks to the availability of a company C-27J, the Alenia Aeronautica top management - including new CEO Giuseppe Giordo - flew to Turin/Caselle airport to take part in the “northern” ceremony.
The prize-giving for the Turin and Caselle plants was held in the afternoon at the Caselle South Flight-Test Center, in Hangar N° 71. Here, 45 employees received their golden pin for 20 years of service, 88 received a watch for 25 years and 167 received a gold watch for 30 years in the company.
At the Caselle South plant (the “Campo Volo”), a comprehensive static display, including a selection of aircraft types now in production or undergoing updating was lined along the factory flight line. Among those on display were two C27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft, two brand new EF 2000 fighters (the single-seater C.S.X7308 / IS040 and the two-seater C.S.X55132 / IT011) both destined for the Italian Air Force, an Italian Air Force Tornado IDS (C.S.X7009) just upgraded to "Basic IT Full MLU" standard, a single-seater AMX ACOL attack aircraft (51-45 / C.S.X7175), the Sky-X jet-powered remote-controlled demonstrator (I-EASB). Unfortunately the third prototype Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SN 95004), undergoing a flight certification phase at Turin/Caselle, was parked a long way from the public area.
In order to reduce interference with the airport’s commercial traffic to a minimum, the eagerly expected flight display took place before the presentation ceremony. Similar to the 2009 edition, a Eurofighter Typhoon (flown by Cdr. Marco Venanzetti) made two low passes in close formation with a Spartan demo aircraft (Cdr.s Enrico Scarabotto and Matteo Maurizio). Following this, the Typhoon and the Spartan each performed a series of low-level evolutions to the enthusiastic appreciation of the crowd.
