Good 2001 results for AirOne

In a very negative period for air transport, though some signs of recovery recently appeared, the 2001 traffic results of AirOne, the Italian domestic scheduled airline connected to Lufthansa, are significantly brilliant. Past year AirOne carried almost two million passengers (+11,1%) with an 8,6% offer increase and a load factor rise of 1,1%.
These good data, in a turn-down year also affected by the September 11 effect, brought a increase in traffic revenue of 17,1% to €188 million. With the recent addition of five more aircraft, leased from Transavia Airlines and Pegasus Airlines, the AirOne fleet reached a total of 23 B.737s of different versions. The Summer 2002 timetable, phased on a 25 aircraft strong fleet, will contain new routes such as Milan/Linate to Palermo and Lamezia Terme, Rome to Catania and Palermo, Turin to Catania, bringing the airline network to 800 flights each week, connecting twenty domestic destinations.
From June on, seasonal flights will be resumed to some smaller Mediterranean islands. The Pantelleria-Rome service will be integrated by a new connection from Milan/Linate; the scheduled flights to Lampedusa from Milan, Rome, Palermo will be confirmed with the addition, for the first time, of a direct service from Bologna.
