Korean Air ha confermato che l'A 380 sarà la punta di diamante dei propri piani di sviluppo, avendo firmato il contratto d'acquisto di cinque esemplari, più tre opzioni. Korean Air introdurrà inizialmente il mega-body dell'Airbus sulle rotte ad alta densità da Seoul verso la costa ovest degli Stati Uniti, per proseguire con le destinazioni sulla costa est e l'Europa. Le consegne del nuovo aereo alla Korean Air avverranno tra la fine del 2007 ed il 2009.
Con la formalizzazione dell'ordine da parte della Korean Air, Airbus ha portato l'ordinativo per l'A 380 a 129 esemplari (121 ordini fermi più otto lettere d'intento) da parte di 11 vettori. Il rapporto commerciale tra Airbus e Korean Air risale al 1974, quando la compagnia asiatica divenne il primo cliente extraeuropeo di Airbus. La compagnia coreana è da anni uno dei maggiori acquierenti di aerei Airbus nella regione, avendo ordinato negli anni trentadue A 300 e diciannove A 330.

Korean Air has confirmed that the A 380 will play a significant role in its future growth plans by signing a firm contract for the purchase of five aircraft, plus three options. Korean Air will initially introduce the Airbus mega-body on high density traffic routes from Seoul to the U.S. west coast, with subsequent destinations likely to include cities on the US east coast and Europe. Deliveries to Korean Air are scheduled to take place between late 2007 and 2009.
With Korean Air's confirmation, Airbus has 121 firm orders plus eight commitments, making a total of 129, from 11 customers for the A 380 programme. Airbus' relationship with Korean Air dates back to 1974, when the airline became Airbus' first customer outside Europe. Today, the carrier remains one of Airbus' largest customers in the region, having previously placed orders for 51 widebody types comprising 32 A 300s and 19 A 330s.
