Con l’acquisto di 14 Airbus A 319 e l’opzione per altri sei esemplari, Hamburg International è diventata un nuovo cliente per questo tipo di velivolo. I primi esemplari sostituiranno i B.737 che costituiscono l’attuale flotta della compagnia tedesca. Airbus allestirà i velivoli con una cabina a classe unica da 150 posti. Il contratto, annunciato solo oggi dalla Hamburg International, era già stato firmato nel dicembre 2005.
Fondata nel 1998, la compagnia anseatica lavora per conto di importanti agenzie di viaggio nel settore dei voli a domanda ed in altre remunerative nicchie di mercato come il trasporto executive e corporate. Il vettore utilizzerà una decina dei propri A 319 sulle direttrici dei voli a domanda intra-europei, oltre a quelle verso l’Africa ed il Medio Oriente.
Il presidente e CEO di Airbus, Gustav Humbert, ha espresso la propria soddisfazione per il fatto che la Hamburg International, un prestigioso cliente basato sullo stesso aeroporto che ospita il maggiore sito industriale Airbus in Germania, ha scelto l’A 319 (assemblato proprio ad Amburgo) per aggiornare tutta la sua flotta."

Hamburg International has become a new customer for the Airbus A 319 with an order for 14 aircraft of the type, plus another six on option. A part of those aircraft will replace the airline’s current fleet of US-manufactured single-aisle aircraft (B.737). Airbus will deliver the aircraft configured in a comfortable single-class layout, seating up to 150 passengers. The contract, announced today by Hamburg International, had already been signed in December 2005.
Established in 1998, the Hamburg-based airline operates on behalf of renowned tour operators as well as charter flights and addressing other substantial niche markets like executive charters and corporate flight operations. The airline will operate ten of the A 319s on its European charter routes as well as on dedicated international flights to Africa and the Middle East.
Airbus President and Chief Executive Officer Gustav Humbert, said: "I am particularly delighted that Hamburg International, a well-reputed customer located in the same city as Airbus’ biggest site in Germany, has selected the A 319 (assembled in Hamburg) for their entire future fleet."
