Boeing ed AeroMexico hanno annunciato che il vettore acquisirà altri 10 B.737-700 Next-Generation per proseguire nel suo programma di rinnovo della flotta. AeroMexico ne ha ordinati otto direttamente alla Boeing mentre gli altri due saranno presi in leasing. Dato che la transazione risale a qualche tempo fa, la Boeing l'aveva inserita tra gli ordini ricevuti da parte di clienti "unidentified".
Questi aerei saranno consegnati tra luglio e dicembre del prossimo anno. La commessa si aggunge ai 15 B.737-700 ordinati da AeroMexico nel 2003, 10 dei quali sono già stati consegnati. I restanti entreranno in linea col vettore centroamericano entro la fine di novembre.
La flessibilità del raggio d'azione permette ai B.737-700 di coprire il 90% delle rotte di AeroMexico. I nuovi aerei, che sostituiranno velivoli non più rispondenti alle nuove normative in fatto di rumore, hanno 112 posti in economica e 12 in "Clase Premier", oltre ad ampie cappelliere a soffitto. Come gli esemplari già consegnati, anche questi ultimi avranno le winglets, una soluzione che, tra l'altro, migliora le prestazioni sugli aeroporti hot and high come Mexico City.
AeroMexico, la principale compagnia aerea del paese, effettua più di 300 voli al giorno per 30 destinazioni domestiche, 15 negli Stati Uniti, due in Europa e tre nel Sud America. E' un membro fondatore dell'alleanza globale SkyTeam che comprende anche Air France, Alitalia, Continental, CSA, Delta Air Lines, Korean Air e Northwest.

Boeing and AeroMexico today said the airline is acquiring 10 additional Next-Generation B.737-700 airplanes for its fleet-modernization program. AeroMexico ordered eight of the airplanes from Boeing and is leasing the remainder. As the transaction was completed earlier, Boeing has reflected it on its orders website in the "unidentified" category.
The airplanes will be delivered between July and December, 2005. This order complements AeroMexico's 2003 order for 15 airplanes, 10 of which have been delivered. The remainder will be delivered by the end of November.
The B.737-700's short- and long-range flight flexibility provides access to 90 percent of AeroMexico's destinations. The airplane also replaces less efficient older aircraft and will allow AeroMexico to comply with noise reduction laws as required. Aeromexico's B.737-700s have 112 economy-class seats and 12 "Clase Premier" seats, and the largest available overhead storage bins. As with AeroMexico's other B.737s, the new ones will have blended winglets also to improve performance at hot, high-altitude airports like Mexico City.
