La compagnia olandese Martinair ha ricevuto oggi il suo primo Airbus A 320, diventando il primo operatore dei Paesi Bassi a mettere in linea un A 320 “nuovo di fabbrica”. Gli aerei di questo tipo per la Martinair, spinti da turbofan IAE V2527, sono a noleggio dalla Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE). Essi consentiranno al vettore basato ad Amsterdam di espandere ulteriormente la propria attività charter verso le località turistiche del Mediterraneo ed in particolare per le Isole Canarie.
Arie Verberk, presidente e CEO della Martinair, prevede nuove opportunità commerciali grazie agli Airbus: “La scelta dell’ A 320 ci permette di operare su alcune destinazioni, come le isole minori dell’Egeo, che non potevamo finora raggiungere direttamente. Possiamo finalmente offrire ai tour operator una serie di nuovi voli non stop da 180 posti.”
Martinair sviluppa una rete mondiale con 75 scali, utilizzando una rete di infrastrutture che si spingono fino ad Hong Kong ed in Florida, occupando all’incirca 3.000 dipendenti. La Martinair controlla anche alcune aziende dell’indotto aeronautico. Dalla sua fondazione, 45 anni fa, il vettore olandese si è trasformato da un piccolo operatore charter in un importante protagonista del trasporto cargo e charter passeggeri, sia a livello europeo che internazionale.

Dutch airline Martinair received its first Airbus A 320 today, becoming the first operator of new A 320s in the Netherlands. The aircraft, equipped with IAE V2527 turbofans, are leased from Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise (SALE) and will allow the airline to further expand its international network into holiday destinations around the Mediterranean and Canary Islands.
The Amsterdam based Martinair’s President and CEO Arie Verberk sees new opportunities with the new Airbus: “The choice for this Airbus A 320 makes it possible for us to operate on another market in Europe. New destinations, especially on the smaller Greek islands, can be reached with this 180-seater. We can offer the tour operators a wider range of possibilities, so we will be an one-stop-shop for them.”
Martinair operates across the globe from 75 locations, utilizing a network of international establishments as far afield as Hong Kong and Florida, and employing a workforce of no less than 3,000. Martinair also owns a number of aviation-related subsidiaries. Since its establishment 45 years ago, Martinair has grown from a small charter company into a significant player in both the European and intercontinental cargo and leisure carrier markets.
