25 Years of Ryanair Low-Cost Flights at Turin

In 2024 Ryanair celebrated 25 years of scheduled services at Turin's Caselle Airport. On May 6, 1999, following an impressive press conference, Michael O'Leary led the press representatives aboard the first Boeing 737-800 (EI-CSA) received in March of that year by the low-fare carrier.
The first connection Turin - London Stansted was launched two days later with a twice-daily frequency, the second being operated with the smaller Boeing 737-200. Ryanair had previously operated into the Turin Airport during the winter of 1998 with their multicoloured Boeing 737 "special colours" aircraft as part of the "snow" charter flights. Three flights were operated every Sunday from a number of British cities.
As part of the anniversary celebrations Ryanair announced their Summer schedule centred on the Turin Airport. 32 different routes are foreseen, with a variety of frequencies, including two new connections - one to Crotone and one to Reggio Calabria. At the moment the Ryanair flights into Caselle are directly operated by the Irish carrier and their consociates Ryanair UK, Malta Air and Buzz which are being equipped with the new Boeing 737-8 Max 200. In 2023 the Ryanair Group airlines, including Lauda Europe, carried a total of around 169 million passengers.
